Butterflies are the animated flowers. They always amuse me.
Butterflies Butterflies Butterflies
Butterflies are flowers that fly
and the colors that paint the sky
They are the many colors making a rainbow
They are the flowers flying in a glow
They are the spirits of freedom
reigning the Lepidoptera kingdom
They are the artists who paint my dreams
and they are the dancers who make me scream
They go lilting and fluttering by
in a shift of summer or wintry sky
They spin my poems
and sing their rhymes
They come as fairies
in my heart's prairies
They make me speechless
and make my life ceaseless
They are the eternal time
and my poesy's chime!

I had always only seen an occasional butterfly flitting around and then dashing away. Until January2011, that is, when a vicious land developer, destroyer more like, had chopped down 85 trees of which the average age was over 100 years. I know this as the builders of the magnificent old 108 years old homestead called "Bonavista" where I live, had hand planted them, according to a great-grand daughter of theirs. I am not even getting to our fruitless efforts at trying to save them, but I am sharing this portion of that bad, destructive and selfish act to tell you that, where the trees are lying, there are 100's of different species of butterflies fluttering around every day. You have succeeded in capturing this beautiful site, perfectly in your wonderful poem. Thank you so much, Rathna

Tranquilpen,
My heart is in melancholy for such an unholy act! What a distasteful destruction!

I was sitting outside today and the most beautiful blue butterfly flew around me. I started to watch the beautiful creature flying around and the next thing you know, I was in total contentment. What a lovely way to spend about 20 minutes of your life, just watching their beauty. You poen captures my experience to a tee. Just lovely.
Thank you for sharing.:)
