She promises to surprise him
which is highly unlikely
as days together between them
stretch into comfortable years

Does She Know

She promises to surprise him
which is highly unlikely
as days together between them
stretch into comfortable years
yet does she know, he wonders
of the sleepy awe
early morning moments
private deep sleep caresses
where he is surprised
to find himself
held close beyond the night

Does she know, he wonders
of the layers of discovery
wonder-filled moments of found
that she represents secrets
true secrets never spoken
suspended on tender-strings
emotion beyond flesh
are these her will to promise
awareness of close spaces
willing finally to be alone
where time divides them wholly
does she know

I really liked this, I can just imagine what each other thinks about when alone. Especially after so many years together. hmmm
