Factoidz is Working Hard to Attract More Writers

This morning I received an alert from Factoidz stating that they had updated their policy which previously stated that in order to keep current; a Factoidz writer has to publish at least one new article each year.

My Factoidz account is still active

When I opened an account at Factoidz, I was told that at least during the first six months, I would have to publish at least one article on their site - if I failed my account will be deleted. For the past nine months, I did not share anything on their site but my account is still active. This signals that the site has made some changes on its policy.

Not long ago, I published a short review about Factoidz. I highlighted the site as a leading community of writers who produce top-quality, highly-trafficked and widely distributed articles on factual and informational topics. Their commitment is to provide timely, fresh and well-written content to their dedicated reader base as well as people seeking information on the Web at large.

Factoidz page rank decreases

However, the site's page rank was down to 4 from 10 possible points compared to 7 from 10 possible points at the time when Google Panda was not yet active on kicking off poor quality content sites. This is showing that until now Factoidz is still suffering from the powerful dropkicks of Google Panda. Added that there are numbers of negative complaints and feedbacks against the site from its own members/contributors as quoted below.

  • "I am a writer for Factoidz and so far I am not impressed. I have over 1,000 hits on an article I recently wrote which received 0, yes zero, earnings."

  • "Factoidz is a Ponzi Scheme. You will write, your work will be confiscated and you will get nothing."

  • "I am having a hard time becoming a Staff Writer. They have returned some of my articles that clearly didn't have any errors, and when I simply rewrote them, they got approved. I have 20+ articles now, but still have not been promoted."

  • "Factoidz is the BIGGEST RIPOFF for writers on the web - period. I contributed dozens of articles that received thousands of page views and when I complained about not making any earnings, I was downgraded to "visitor" status and they are still making money on my articles."

Factoidz changes its policy

They said, "Now, all accounts will remain fully active without any time restrictions or requirements on activity. Publish once, and provided you stay within our guidelines, you'll receive earnings for that work in perpetuity. Plus, you can come back and publish anytime you'd like without needing to reinstate your account."

The site strives to promote an active community while providing a very easy way to earn passive income - and they think this new approach will brings them more in line with this goal.

They further said, "As a Reviewer, you'll have admin abilities to manage the testimonials that appear on your reviews. We've also given you a link on your Dashboard to go back and quickly rate the services you've reviewed in the past."

Factoidz launches user ratings and reviews

In other news, the site has just launched user ratings and reviews as a part of their editorial Product Reviews system. Now, in addition to reading the written review that a writer has provided, readers can add their own 5-star rating to products and services a writer covers, as well as submit their own testimonials. The site thinks that this will add a new dimension to reviews to make them more useful to potential customers.

I have an account with Factoids. Always been discouraged by bad reviews so my content there remains empty. Thanks for the article, Paul.

There are a lot of sites plying for article writer's attention. I think it is best stick with a few that you are comfortable with. You may earn more money by spreading content around, but I think you have to be confident that you will indeed earn from the site.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Thank you, ppruel, for this very informative article.

Actually, I'm now something called a "Link Wheel" on all my articles. That means I always add 1 link to my Wikinut articles and 1 link to my blogs. So my main work is blogging with Adsense right now and I also write small articles on Squidoo, Wizzley, Webnuggetz, Triond and many others. They are the outside rim of the Link Wheel and they drive traffic to my blogs and Wikinut articles.

To cut a long story short, I see an enormous improvement on "quality clicks" on my Wikinut articles, so I know it's worth doing all this work in the long run.

Furthermore, the Link Wheel can also link back to the articles at Squidoo etc., etc. and so eventually there is an income from everywhere I write. Patience is the key, though! ;)

Not sure if I want to include Factoiz in my Link Wheel though if they are so fussy!

Over 1000 hits for ONE article on Wikinut? Which one was it?

Congrats! That is great! I usually get around 200 to 300 per day across all my Wikinut articles.

What do you do for networking?

The thing is, one can really earn good money at Wikinut if one has the perfect article that people want to read, something that goes viral. I haven't had that yet! But I'm marching on ... :) Thanks for the share, Melissa!

I got the same email from Factoidz. I quit writing there over a year ago due to NHI (no human involvement) from staff. the fact that the staff have no names bothers me, what happenned to transparency? I didn't mnake anything for like 8 months now i get like 30-40 cents a month for the six articles I did do.

An interesting read. I used to write daily for Factoidz, but stopped, simply because I like writing in a more personal style and didn't have time for the research required.
