Google+ is another newly created social network - another cool place to hang on and to share for anything and everything that we writers always love to share to people across the Internet - from videos, photos, articles and etc. and to join Google+ is free.
- Google+ is officially opened to everyone
- Google+ a threat for Facebook

Google+ is officially opened to everyone
It is too early to tell that Google+ could be the biggest rival social network of Facebook. When the service launched on June 28, 2011 in an invite-only "field testing" phase, ten of thousands of people around the world flooded in to join Google Plus. Now it is officially opened on September 20, 2011 to everyone without the need of invitation.
At Twitter Google+ had become the hot subject for sharing to millions of Twitters users. The same is true at Facebook, Google Plus had become the hot subject for discussion among its Facebook users, including to some e-groups across the Internet. If you will notice at the time Google Plus was launched on June 28, 2011, Facebook also had started adding some additional new features and other changes on the site that until now many of its users are still complaining for those changes. This year 2011, Facebook has recorded 750 million registered users. This is the biggest social network ever created based from the number of users.
Google+ a threat for Facebook
However, some experts considered Google+ as a threat for Facebook. When the site was officially opened to everyone on September 20, 2011, the site has recorded millions of registered users. As of today, September 26, 2011, the site has garnered approximately a total of 50 million registered users and still expanding - these numbers of users have registered during the first 91 days when the site was launched on June 28, 2011. If we will get the daily average of newly registered Google+ users from 50 millions for 91 days, the site has recorded at least 549,450 of people who have joined Google Plus everyday and for a year, the number of G+ users will reach to 200,549,250 and how about in five years - Google+ will record a total of G+ users approximately 1,002,746,250 users.
What is Google+?
According to Wikipedia Google+ is a social networking and identity service, operated by Google Inc. Google+ integrates social services such as Google Profiles and Google Buzz, and introduces new services Circles, Hangouts and Sparks. Google+ is available as a web site, and will be available as a desktop application and is already available as a mobile application, but only on the Android and iOS operating systems. Google has launched an API platform for developers too.
What features Google+ offers?
If you will check out the site Google Plus you will see that the site has many features to offer to its users like:
- Circles - enable users to organize contacts into groups for sharing, across various Google products and services.
- Hangouts - are places used to facilitate group video chat with a maximum of 10 people participating in a single Hangout at any point in time. However, anyone on the web could potentially join the "Hangout" if they happen to possess the unique URL of the Hangout.
- Mobile Hangouts - are available since the service went public.
- Hangouts On-Air - give users the ability to create instant webcasts over Google+. The broadcasts can also be recorded for later retrieval. This feature, announced at September 20, 2011, is at the moment limited to some videocast personalities, but the announcement indicates that it will be opened up.
- Hangouts with Extras - currently at a preview state, will allow users to share documents, share a scratchpad and share their screens with other users.
- Messenger - is a feature available to Android, iPhone, and SMS devices for communicating through instant messaging within circles.
- Instant Upload - is specific to Android mobile devices; it stores photos or video in a private album for sharing later.
- Sparks - is a front-end to Google Search, enabling users to identify topics they might be interested in sharing with others; "featured interests" sparks are also available, based on topics others globally are finding interesting. Sparks helps to keep users posted on the latest updates on the topics of their interest.
- In the Stream - users see updates from those in their circles. The input box allows users to enter a status update or use icons to upload and share photo and videos. The Stream can be filtered to show only posts from specific Circles.
- Games - G+ has 16 games when launched on August 11, 2011. Unlike Facebook games, Google+ games are located under a games tab which gives games less visibility, with notifications that are separate from the rest of a user's notifications.
- Google+ has a "+1" - button to allow people to recommend sites and parts of sites similar in use to Facebook's Like button.
- and Similar to other Google applications - Google+ provides integration with other Google applications like Gmail, Calendar, Documents, etc. and a Data Liberation option provides the ability to download one's content from Google+.
Google+ is a free site to join
When Google+ was officially opened to everyone without the need of invitation on September 20, 2011, I immediately grabbed the opportunity. And I started sharing some of my articles there published from Wikinut, Triond and from my personal blog sites. What good for this social network site - this is operated by Google Inc. Remember Google is the number one search engine used by millions of people around the world.

We will have to rewire our brains to catch up with latest versions of the technology in the internet, my friend. I think later on more revisions will make them all not user-friendly.

I press the google +1 button below wikinut articles I like and it comes up red. I think the problem is throughout the wikinut system because everyone else on wikinut who has done this has run into the same problem.

I suspected it that G+ is not really intended to recommend our own stuff but others stuff. If you're already a G+ user just enjoy the opportunity and start sharing your awesome articles to your friend of circles at G+ site or share them publicly. Thank you Steve.

What Steve said was also happening to me.
In fact, initially it worked on Wikinut articles, but many times it came red, then I stopped giving pluses.
Now I gave a plus to your page, and it accepted.

I also had experienced it - seemed you cannot use it for your own article but to recommend other's article. Thank you for the +. Now since Google+ is already open to everyone let's enjoy the opportunity.
