We, the people of the world, should help reduce it. What good is prosperity when pollution could damage people, animals, water and surroundings?

Causes of Diseases

The Oil spills, solid wastes and dangerous chemicals from homes, factories or farms, emptied into rivers, lakes and bays damage our health and surroundings. They devastate aquatic life. The air we breathe, poisoned by automobile and factory emissions, causes asthma and allergies. Rotting wastes in our surroundings are breeding grounds for flies and mosquitoes, which are carriers of malaria, dengue fever and other killer diseases.

We cannot Stop Pollution

Since pollution is always connected with prosperity, we cannot stop it entirely. But we can reduce it. An environmental sanitary program, involving government agencies and nongovernmental organizations, should chalk out the sanitary measures that need to be taken

Awareness and Will is Necessary

There should be a machinery to monitor their implementation at all levels. School and university authorities should mobilize their students for the promotion of clean and safe surroundings in their schools and communities. Parents must teach their children the proper way of using water and consuming electricity and of proper waste disposal and train them to keep their surrounding clean and not to litter public places.

The traffic police should book vehicles that produce poisonous emissions. The radio, TV and the press should make the public aware of the harmful effects of pollution and the ways to reduce it.

If there is awareness and will, pollution can be controlled and our health saved.

Interesting read my friend, this has been a topic of discussion in my family as of late. My son at an age where he is becoming aware of the greater world outside. He is disillusioned, as many of us at that time in our lives, when we begin to see what “ needs fixing” in the world. I believe this to be a natural condition however, otherwise why would anyone make an effort to make life better for all. I remind him that although he is right in his opinions’, he must open his mind to the fact that there are many people already implementing the Ideas you have suggested in your article. I tell him that I have lived to see a time in my own country where these ideas are now taken seriously. Unfortunately the mess we created, will take some time to heal. The awareness of the problem the first stage in it’s ultimate solution. Rather than waste his energies in anger, at the misfortune of universal neglect, he should align himself with the positive actions currently in place to heal it. Thank you for providing awareness.

Wow, nice sharing too with your insightful comment.

I love this line: "Rather than waste his energies in anger, at the misfortune of universal neglect, he should align himself with the positive actions currently in place to heal it." I agree with you.
