~ the space between the first time & second time ~ measured in gasps & frantic farewells ~ he thought she might & she did ~ the white of her flesh on his dark red sheets ~ maybe satin next ~ & her feet ~ he’ll wait ~ patient like a good lover should ~
~New Lovers~
Well, the second time he made love to her he knew many things that were unknown to him the first time. Between the lines of conversation there were clues as to how and when he might touch and where to leave kisses. It seems that, no matter what age we are, the first encounter is fraught with a certain fumbling. That, in and of itself, is a precious commodity.
How wonderful to learn the alien erotic territory of a new lover and discover in yourself a new lover as well who is invited and confirmed in an ecstatic blend of flesh and lips. And the hunger is greater, the need to be needed, and sated, involved in the sating of an other. The language of sex is meant to be fraught with desire and where then is love to be found beyond the lover's bed? Oh, it is in those conversations about any little thing. He finds himself dwelling in delicious tiny spaces, caught between kisses, the arch of her foot, and the ankle he has not yet touched with his lips.
