~XXV. Children/Name Them Hope~
What I don’t have in my pocket
what I don’t find in my room
when I don’t have anybody
I find you, oh-oh, I find you
They come walkin’ out the fire
children is their name
they come askin’
they come seekin’
they come lookin’
may be for a place to land
children, upon whose
whose shoulders the morrow
most times we are naked
~XXVI. Knuckle & Fang~
We been makin’ too much noise
there’s a breakdown and it comes
like a flashflood and it goes
there’s a different way to be
and it challenges, it comes
as a lightning bolt, it goes
our face cuts the wind
it’s a stone damned chisel, these
wounds we address with
bared knuckle, dripping fang
you look very pretty in your car
smoking your long cigarette
you appear almost... continental
~XXVII. Overload~
This river, Gila’s own
these swim sand and stone
one day after noon
we seated ourselves
asses down and out
Mister Needle put some Sunshine
your tombstones in our eyes
we wear our lives in layers
ride them hard and wear them out
there is too much wrong
we just can’t fix it
is a clockwork apple damn
damn me bad
When the spring is sprung
tension tight
some thing has to give
some thing just does
~XXVIII. Pillage Our Senses~
We went to sleep in a village
no one was angry there
were maidens whose nipples danced; they
anointed our breath with honey
blessed our eyes
with powders taken
(stolen) from burial sites
these daughters held us weeping
and, outside our tents
their bodies swayed
candlelight, silhouette
promise of night
