A Small Town, Gone

How quickly life can be taken, how quickly life came to a halt, for a small but thriving town named Joplin, Missouri.

A Small Town Gone

A thriving small town
The main strip that beamed
With vibrant and brilliant life so abundant
And in a matter of minutes
It was just gone...
The ominous sky
Dark and dreadful
Disaster loomed...
An inevitable catastrophe
Then came the lightening strikes
That ripped across the clouds
The hail assault
Then the monster appeared...
Consuming everyone
And everything in its path...
Oh dear God!
There's nothing left!
Except the rubble
And surviving souls
Who search for the missing
While trying to see through silent tears
It seems as though they will never end
As memories flood the minds
Of a small town now gone...

You've captured the tragedy of Joplin very well. How sad. Our prayers are with them. Thank you, chellanglo.

It's been a rough year in the U.S. This monster hit while some of my family members were helping out in Alabama for the tornadoes from the previous week. Thank you for sharing, Chell.
