Until this very moment, my novel - under- construction was untitled. I had a few names in my mind, and I was confused. But I guess, 'Amidst Sandcastles' is an apt name.
I am planning to publish the novel I am working on now, part by part here. I want some serious feedback on it - starting from the title, to keep me going! And I trust this is the best place to get it.

Writing and Me - Before 'Amidst Sandcastles'

Hello fellow-nuts!
Let's begin with the author. That's me. :)
Each of us have a reason to write, a way of writing and a lot to say about what writing is to us.
I'm not different, but I'm keeping this section short.
I'll just let you know in short what my experience is in writing during the past 10 years.

Basically, I was just a diary writer. And my favorite book of teenage years was Anne Frank's Diary. And I had lots of secrets that I dared tell only to the pages of a notebook since it didn't talk back.
Well, you all know what it's like.
So, here we go, I began writing at 13 - writing other than my diary. Poetry was the start, but when I was 14, I began a novel titled Kith and Kin and completed it. It was not meant for publication but it was just meant for my friends and my English language teacher at school.
So that was my first novel. Stupid one, though.
Later I was always writing a novel, but never completed them as I was too young to be writing the plots I had in mind. I began writing my dream book Rose and Lavender when I was 17, but as I had no definite plotting done for it, it went a long way, that the story wandered off. I was going to forget about that book totally when a close friend told me that it could be a brilliant book if I rewrote it after finishing another book. That is, starting anew. I do have plans to do it.
So what I am going to share here is, I am presently working on a contemporary novel.
And I was thinking of publishing it here, part by part. I may not be able to post a whole chapter a day, or even daily. But a chapter will be split to two or three parts and posted.
And may be once in a week, since I don't own a computer and don't get one to use everyday.:)

About The Project

The first thing to say about the novel is - it was untitled till now, though I had a few names in mind. But, this title might change over time.
I have finished one-third of the novel, but most of it is in paper. It will take time to make its soft copy. But typing a bit everyday is not going to be huge work. I will try my best to do it.
It is a contemporary fiction set in Goa, India. I have never been to that place but I always feel like it's the place my stories will happen. A Goan friend is helping me with the setting, so that part is cleared.
As it is a novel that deals more with the internal conflicts and relationship matters, the setting is not always described. The setting is just a place to be, while the story happens.
It is a story of a few doctors, but that doesn't make this a medical romance or professional thriller. It's just that these characters were students of the Goa Medical College, so naturally they would be doctors. :)
The book is divided into three parts.
Part one narrates the present events taking place which leads to a flashback of 15 years back, which is part two. Part three reverts back to the present and the epilogue.
As I'm working on the book, my writing has improved a lot.
But working on it myself doesn't help much.
I need to get feedback about it to keep me going.
So are you ready for the adventure with me? :)
Let me know about it here! Now, let's move to what would be a back cover blurb of the book, if it gets published one day.
Since it's a long shot, and since I, a computer-less medical student, is authoring it, it would take a long time to draw out a final draft of the manuscript in order to submit it to a publisher. And how long after that?
So, guess what I did?
To sooth myself and to make research much easier, I set the present time in the story as 2013. God knows what all will happen in the meantime. :D
But I thought I will stick to it. :)

The Could be-Back Cover Blurb

Selena Rosche, 32, had a monotonous life that gave her very little to fret about – a successful obstetrician, a single mother to twin girls, Rene and Pris, and well settled in a beautiful house in Vasco, Goa, she never went out with men, nor had space for romance in her much reserved life - until two men return to her life, which could unearth secrets that she had buried with the woman she was.

Noah Sehnor, 35, is handsome and amiable, and the dream of every young woman. Though a good Paediatrician with experience world wide, he has one regret. He had no kids. Because he was still single. He returns home and travels to Vasco for redemption, but will the woman he still loves let him back, and more importantly, let him stay - after ten long years away?

Vincent Gomer was the best teacher once. But now, after 10 years of imprisonment, he returns to claim what is his, determined to live the rest of his life to the fullest to make up for his lost time. But that would mean disrupting the calm life of a single mother and her twin daughters.

Rene and Pris are bright girls, 12 and at an age that questioned everything, old enough to know things aren't what they seem to be, but too young to understand why life had to be like that.

This is a story that brings out the joys of first love and the compromises that we miss to make, thereby breaking hearts and the sewing up of the pieces and getting ready for second chances with the same. And it is a story that proves that true love survives.
So does it bring out how one's family plays a huge role in shaping the persons we are. And where misunderstanding and failing to understand leads to.
Bits and pieces scattered through out the story paints soft pictures of father-son relationship, beautiful friendships and different aspects of love.
And again, this is a story where there are no antagonists. The situations are the villains. And it highlights the fact that there is only one way to make life better - Open Your Heart. And that each of us have our own choices. In our life, the choices are ours to make, but that should not stop others from making their choices. :)

SO???
So here, I have introduced my plan.
I sincerely hope to get feedback about my writing style, and the quality of the plot. And whether it keeps the promise of the back cover blurb.
So, if you think the story is worth a read, as I post the chapters, please share the link with your friends or recommend it to readers.

Thank you all!
Love
Sana

Writing the back cover page comes last in the editing process. You started at the wrong end of it. The blurb as you call it should have a pitch, something striking to grab the reader's attention and keep him hooked to the novel. I suggest following steps before you proceed further.
1. Sharpen your grammar. I do find some errors.
2. Select the target readers. If they are Indians you stick to British grammar. Otherwise get to know American grammar. There is a hell of lot of diff in them.
3. Get the book HOW TO WRITE A DAMN GOOD NOVEL. You need to know what the POV is , what is author's intervention, interior monologue, art of writing dialogue, dialogue beats and so on. Today, there is an art and craft of writing. Art alone is not good enough.
You need to select a few write friends to give you constant feed back.
More in my comments for your subsequent chapters.

Well, thank you for the feedback. This is the first draft. Not edited. And the blurb I gave is not the actual blurb of course.
