Many times I suffered from swollen and very painful tonsils. Doctors always told me to go for removal of my tonsils. But I was against it. I knew tonsils are very essential body guards against the foreign pathogens. So I found my own remedy in garlic and now I never worry about my tonsils.

I am sharing my own experience here for the benefit of the people who might, otherwise, hurry for tonsillectomy.

The dreadfully useful tonsils

My tonsils used to swell so full that made me fear even gulping warm coffee a little down my throat. I was so broken at my heart whenever my doctor advised me for removal of tonsils.

The doctor always said, "I tried all the medicines available in the world as of now. No amount of the currently available strongest drug can cure your bad tonsils. Your tonsillitis is so stubborn that there is no way other than removal of the tonsils by a surgery."

How I dreaded loosing my tonsils? I knew well that they are my body guards protecting me from microorganisms entering through inhalation or ingestion.

My first experience with garlic

As I suffered from severe tonsillitis I was advised by a friend to try garlic juice. It happened seventeen years ago when I did not have access to internet. But I had read in a book about the medicinal values of garlic. It gave me some solace.

One morning I swallowed a teaspoonful of garlic juice on an empty stomach. No sooner than the juice reached my stomach, I realized that I was fainting. To my surprise, my senses worked and I grabbed the jug of water and poured down my throat. Then I was stable as the water diluted the garlic juice in my stomach.

So, be warned! Don't take raw garlic juice on an empty stomach.

How to use garlic juice safely

You need only three things to make a wonderful natural remedy. You can experiment with the quantities and make your own preparation also.

Garlic cloves 4 to 10 depending on the size
Honey 50 ml or more
Water as required, preferably lukewarm

Peel of few cloves of garlic. As a first step, you can start with 4 or 5 cloves if they are small, or take only 2 pieces if they are big in size.

Put those garlic cloves into the juicer along with a small quantity of water and extract the juice.

Mix this juice with the honey and dilute it adding some more water. Honey acts as the medium to make garlic soft enough to avoid its pungency and to alleviate its quick and strong effect on the nervous system.

Now you are ready to consume this simple beverage, but be cautious!

Precautions and recommendations

This honey-garlic juice is recommended to be taken on an empty stomach, either morning or evening.

Before you sip it through, first drink a glassful of warm water to avoid any inconvenience or disturbance in your stomach.

Then consume the juice slowly allowing it to trickle down your throat. The garlic cleanses the tonsils and throat as it kills the germs on its way down. The honey lubricates your throat well and relieves you from the irritation of swollen tonsils.

Dosages

If your tonsils are seriously ill and puffed up, you need to have this remedy twice daily - morning and evening or night.

If the swelling and pain are moderate, taking once in a day is enough.

You need to continue for two to four days until your tonsils are normal.

Other benefits of garlic

There are many benefits of garlic.

Rejuvenates your immune system.
Improves digestion.
Wards of colds and coughs.
Removes cholesterol accumulation in blood vessels.
Cleanses the colon, so no fear of colon cancer.
Protects skin.
Acts against acidity.
Cures tumors.

And most importantly, garlic is a panacea in itself.

Tonsilitis, if not treated, leads to several digestive and allergic disorders and makes children to suffer a lot. Removal of tonsil may not be the right solution. Alternative medicines have lot of medicines for tonsilitis treatments. I like your article

Very interesting. I usually use half honey and half vinegar when I have a sore throat, I have been lucky in my 47 years here on earth that I have not been plagued with acute tonsilites. I will have to add garlic juice to my remedy the next time I have a problem with my throat. Great info.
Thank you for sharing.:)
