Albert Einstein was a world-renowned theoretical physicist. He is regarded as the father of modern physics. He developed the famous theory of general relativity. He won the Nobel Prize for physics in the year 1921 for his work on the law of photoelectric effect. This genius published more than 400 papers during his career.
Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany. He studied in a Catholic elementary school and later at the Luitpold Gymnasium. He did well in his studies. He displayed his mental acumen at an early age by building mechanical devices. He published his first scientific work, “The Investigation of the State of Aether in Magnetic Fields” in the year 1895. Einstein graduated in Switzerland when was 17 years of age. He obtained his doctor’s degree in the year 1905.
Albert Einstein took up a teaching job in Switzerland. He married Mileva Maric in the year 1902. The couple divorced in the year 1919. He married Elsa Lowenthal in the same year. They moved to the United States of America in the year 1933 when Adolf Hitler came to power.
Albert Einstein became a US citizen in the year 1940. He played a major role in developing the atom bomb. He, along with Bertrand Russel, educated the masses regarding the dangers of nuclear weapons. Einstein’s Annus Mirabilis papers contained four articles. They were regarding photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, special theory of relativity, and E=mc2.
His work on the photoelectric effect gave birth to the quantum theory. His works changed how people looked at space, time, matter, and energy. After he retired, he worked towards the unification of the basic concepts of physics, his first love.
Einstein was awarded honorary doctorates in science, philosophy, and medicine by many European and American universities. He traveled extensively and lectured at many places in Europe, America, and Asia. Albert Einstein loved music. It helped him to relax. He died on April 18 1955 at Princeton, New Jersey.
